Masters in Teaching and Learning
A fully funded Masters Programme in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
A systematic approach to teachers’ early professional development Schools and Universities working together to improve teachers' professional practice for the benefit of young people.
The programme’s centre of gravity is firmly in the school with new funding to schools and a new role of MTL in-school coach. The MTL has been launched successfully in Yorkshire and Humber with over 210 NQTs enrolling from our partner schools.
The MTL for TLR holders
The MTL has now been made available to colleagues who have been newly appointed ( since Sept 2009) to TLR posts in MTL-eligible schools. Their MTL programme will commence in November 2010, more details can be found in the MTL practitioners section of this portal.
Schools new to MTL
Go to the Masters in Teaching and Learning Portal (opens new window).
Once started on the programme, an MTL teacher retains their eligibility for funding if they move schools within England ( except for moves to the independent sector). if you have had an MTL teacher move to your school then our briefing pack for new MTL schools gives an overview of the MTL, what it aims to achieve, how it is delivered and how schools can support their participating colleagues.
